A slot’s artwork explains its theme; its paytable explains its rules. Before comparing games, locate the help screen in the version you are actually opening and read how the game calculates a payout.
Identify the winning pattern
Check whether the game uses paylines, ways, clusters or matching symbols anywhere. Look at the minimum matching group and whether symbols must start on a particular reel. A similar grid does not mean two games use the same calculation.
Read feature conditions separately
Scatters, wilds and multipliers can have different roles in the base game and a bonus round. Find the entry conditions, retriggers and any restrictions. A feature description in a review should be compared with the rules in the active game.
Check the stake behind an example
A displayed example may assume a particular total stake. Establish whether the stake shown includes extra features or ante options. Keep the stake and payout units together when comparing examples; visual effects do not change those units.
A practical example
Imagine a five-reel game pays matching symbols anywhere, while another requires adjacent reels. A familiar arrangement of symbols is not enough to compare the results. Read the winning-pattern explanation before using a screenshot as an example.
Quick checklist
- Identify the exact title and provider.
- Read the active game’s winning mechanism.
- Check feature costs, conditions and resets.
- Keep RTP and maximum wins in context.
- Set spending and time boundaries before opening play.
